King Charles III has officially extended an invite to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry for his Coronation that is to be held in May.
In what seems to be after months of speculations, royal watchers can rest easy now that the news was confirmed by the royal couple’s spokesperson.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spokesperson confirmed the news to The Times: "I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the coronation."
However, whether or not Prince Harry and Meghan will be part of the celebrations is yet to be determined.
"An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time."
The news comes hot in the heels of reports revealing that Prince Harry and Meghan are being evicted from their Windsor estate and is being offered to Prince Andrew instead.
"We can confirm the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage," a spokesperson for the couple said.
While news of the couple's attendance is yet to be confirmed, earlier reports revealed that they had laid down certain non-negotiable conditions that needed to be fulfilled in order to confirm their attendance.
According to The Mirror, Prince Harry and Meghan will not attend unless they are promised a non-toxic environment.
Their request comes after the couple claimed to received ill-treatment at the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and funeral.
"Harry has been very clear and his position hasn't wavered," a royal source said.
"He isn't going to come if he feels the atmosphere will be as toxic as it was during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee and funeral. He's said he wants to reconcile with his family and it's their call, but so far nothing has changed."
