"Monotonia', featuring Ozuna, was released two months ago and has 166 million streams, which [means that she made] 3,554,000 dollars."
The latest single by Shakira and Karol G finds the singers' take on being cheated on.
She expressed a moment of vulnerability on admitting that it hurt to see her ex Gerard with his new lover.
To note, this is the second song she released about her former relationship. The first was with the Argentinian producer Bizarrap.
Karol starts off the song by singing, "Whoever told you that you can fill your emptiness with another person lied to you, It’s like covering up a scar with makeup: you can’t see it, but you can feel it/ You left saying you got over me and got a new girlfriend/ But she doesn’t know that you still watch all my stories."
Shakira's verse begins, "Seeing you with your new girl hurt me/ But now I’m focused on myself/ I already forgot we had/ And you can’t stand it."
"You’re not welcome over here/ I saw what your girlfriend said to me, That doesn’t make me angry/ it makes me laugh (makes me laugh)."
