Akon has thrown his weight behind fellow rapper Kanye West as he has faced criticism over his controversial Yeezy x Gap collection.
Speaking in a video interview with TMZ the rapper backed the Donda creator after his collaboration with GAP was placed in massive trash bags and customers were expected to "dig" through the pile to find their size.
Akon defended that it was Kanye’s own creativity and that he should not apologise for it.
"I mean, it's creative. I don't think anyone should ever have to apologize for anything creative," Akon told TMZ.
"It's just an idea, it's just a vision of something that's in your mind."
He added that Kanye's critics should "just let him do it, and see what he does after he's successful with it".
"You're just as bad as the person you're criticizing," Akon said.
Meanwhile, the latest on Kanye West news is that the rapper has once more come under fire after he shared, and deleted, an Instagram post where he claimed to take inspiration from homelessness for his designs.
