Trans model Rikkie Valerie Kolle wins Miss Universe Netherlands 2023

Rikkie Valerie Kolle has made history as the first-ever transgender individual to be crowned Miss Universe Netherlands 2023. 

The competition was fierce, with nine other contestants vying for the prestigious title, but Rikkie's exceptional qualities and undeniable talent set her apart. 

Hailing from Breda, a 22-year-old city resident, Rikkie proudly represents her Dutch-Moluccan heritage.

During the coronation ceremony, the reigning Miss Universe Netherlands 2022, Ona Moody, displayed grace and elegance as she joined hands with the reigning Miss Universe 2022, R'Bonney Nola, to bestow the coveted crown upon their worthy successor. 

With the crown now adorning her head, Rikkie is set to represent her nation with pride at the highly anticipated 72nd Miss Universe 2023 pageant, which will take place in El Salvador. 

Among a gathering of exceptional beauty and talent from around the world, R'Bonney Gabriel, the reigning Miss Universe 2022, will gracefully pass on the crown to her deserving successor during the grand finale.

Adding to the triumphs of the LGBTQ+ community, the talented singer Kim Petras achieved a historic milestone at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards on February 6.

Breaking barriers, she became the first transgender woman to win the esteemed award for pop duo/group performance. 

Collaborating with the non-binary British artist Sam Smith in the song Unholy, Kim's talent and dedication shone through.

Both graced the Grammy stage in matching red attire, making a striking visual statement. 

It was Madonna who had the honour of presenting the award. In an act of solidarity and support, Sam Smith positioned themselves behind Kim, trusting her to accept the award on behalf of their collaboration.
