New Jersey mayor honours Taylor Swift by naming state sandwich after her

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy took to Twitter to share that Taylor Swift was honoured with a sandwich to her name

Taylor Swift has received another honour by a state governor as she continues to perform across the country as part of The Eras Tour

Taylor Swift not only has a number of smashing hits and awards to her name, but now she also has a sandwich added to the list after New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy made the announcement ahead of the singer's performance.

Taking to Twitter, Murphy settled the Taylor ham and pork toll debate ahead of Swift's arrival to MetLife Stadium for her Memorial Day weekend performance as part of The Eras Tour.

"In New Jersey, we have a reputation for a great war between Taylor ham and pork roll," Murphy said.

Stating that in honour of the singer, the official sandwich of New Jersey was a "Taylor Swift ham, egg, and cheese".

"Usually, we let you call it what you want, but since we have a superstar coming to town we know all too well, we should commemorate the occasion. So today, we are declaring the official state sandwich of New Jersey a Taylor Swift ham, egg, and cheese."

He continued, "Welcome to New Jersey, Taylor! We’ve been waiting for you, and it would have been a cruel summer without you."

This is not the first time a city mayor gave the singer special treatment.

Earlier, Glendale, Arizona temporarily adopted Swift City as its new name as well as naming the singer as the honorary mayor of Tampa.

Swift’s will perform at the MetLife Stadium from May 26 till May 28.
