Cara Delevingne reveals she began abusing alcohol at age seven

Cara Delevingne is baring it all.

The 30-year-old model recently sat down with Vogue to detail her history of substance abuse and resulting mental health issues.

The multi-hyphenate star revealed that she started abusing alcohol and prescription pills when she was a child.

“I woke up in my granny's house in my bedroom with a hangover, in a bridesmaid's dress. I'd gone around nailing glasses of Champagne,” she revealed, noting that she got drunk for the first time at seven years old.

She was prescribed sleeping pills in a bit to treat her insomnia at age 10. A few years later, she was diagnosed with dyspraxia, a neurological condition affecting physical coordination.

The incomprehensible situation resulted at the beginning of Cara’s mental health issues which prompted her to continually self-harm.

The Paper Town actress revealed that she tried every kind of therapy, including art therapy, music therapy, EMDR, and CBT in hopes to manage her issues.

She also shared that “everything I hadn't dealt with bubbled up to the surface,” culminating in a mental breakdown at only 15.

“I was on medication and it just…it saved my life. This wasn't a chemical imbalance as much as it was a full trauma response,” she explained.

“I hadn't uncovered the [expletive] hole inside, the real whirlpool within. And I still think there's a part of diagnosis and labeling that is damaging. There were so many times that I was encouraged to take this or be put on that,” the model added.
