Former footballer Stanley Wilson Jr. reportedly passed away after collapsing at a mental hospital earlier this month. He was 40.
According to TMZ, the Detroit Lions cornerback was arrested back in August over charges of vandalism, however, the prosecutors declared him incompetent to stand trial due to his mental health issues.
Stanley was then transferred from county jail to the Metropolitan State Hospital in Los Angeles County on Feb. 1.
Law enforcement authorities told the outlet that the athlete was being taken to the psychiatric ward when she suddenly collapsed and died.
The sources have refuted the suspicion of foul play.
The former cornerback had been under the radar of law since his retirement from football in 2008.
In 2016, Stanley was charged with an attempted burglary at a home in Portland while completely nude.
He was arrested for another break-in and walking around a Portland neighborhood naked only a year later.
Back in August, Stanley allegedly broke into a home and took a bath in an outdoor fountain.
