Almost Famous musical closing on Broadway in January

Almost Famous, a film-to-stage adaptation based on Cameron Crowe’s semi-autobiography has joined its fellow shows, KPOP and Walking With Ghosts, among others, in giving into the surging economic recession in the earnings of theatre.

After 30 preview performances and 77 performances, the Broadway show is set to finish its run on Jan. 8, 2023. 

“Almost Famous, like the music it celebrates, will endure. We look forward to the release of the cast recording on March 17, and to the many productions in communities across the country and world, for years to come,” the show producers said in a statement.

The Jeremy Herrin directorial follows an aspiring reporter who gets an assignment from Rolling Stone while he’s still a teenager.

The musical featured co-lyrics by Crowe and music and co-lyrics by Tom Kitt.
