Jackie Evancho has bones of an 80-year-old due to anorexia

Jackie Evancho has revealed that she has the bones of an 80-year-old woman due to her eating disorder.

The America’s Got Talent star recently spoke to People Magazine where she discussed her battle with anorexia and how it weakened her bones.

The 22-year-old revealed that she found out that she had osteoporosis after she was hospitalized due to a car accident in 2021 that broke her back in two places.

"They were abnormal breaks, breaks that you see in 80-year-olds," she explained. "That's how I learned that my eating problems created osteoporosis. So now I'm a 22-year-old with osteoporosis."

Jackie continued on to say that she "had to eat [for my bones] to heal."

However, her disorder did not take the notion kindly and made her believe she needed to be really hard on herself and lose all the weight she had gained during her recovery.

"Once I finally healed, my disorder said, 'OK, now you've got to be really hard on yourself to get all of that out of you . . . and then some.'"

The singer reflected on her journey with the disorder and revealed that it started as soon as she hit puberty.

She is currently under treatment for the disorder in an inpatient facility.
