Fans call to boycott ‘Stranger Things’

Netflix crashed as Stranger Things Season 5 returned this Thursday, but the internet is calling for a boycott due to the cast and creator speaking about the Middle Eastern conflict.

Netflix’s most-streamed English-language series came back on Thursday, November 27, amid a tempest of controversy.

As several cast members have shown support for a single party in the geopolitical conflict since the beginning of the crisis, the internet urged the audience to boycott the sci-fi horror mystery.

The surge broke out shortly after October 7, when Noah Schnapp (Will Byers from the show) posted a short snap on Instagram, choosing sides in the Middle Eastern conflict, although he deleted it later, as per Variety.

“As a Jewish American, I am afraid,” Schnapp wrote in the post. “Afraid for my brothers and sisters in Israel, who have been senselessly attacked by Hamas.”

Schnapp added, “I am truly heartbroken to see the brutal murders of innocent children, women, and soldiers fighting to defend themselves. I, like others, want peace for both Palestinians and Israelis. Let’s stop the rhetoric and choosing sides.”

He concluded by saying that everyone must recognize that his side is the right one, which is fighting against terrorism.

“Choose humanity over violence,” he ended.

Now, as Netflix drops the final episode of the show, the audience lashes out on X, calling for a boycott.

“We don’t care. Boycott Stranger Things, the show is infiltrated with raging racist Islamophobic Zionists,” one user wrote.

Once a cultural phenomenon, Stranger Things is now under the fog of political criticism.
